Monday 8th June 2020

Welcome back Fantastic Foxes!

It’s Monday again, I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed doing some different activities with your families. Don’t forget to keep sending your ‘Bubble’ pictures and your microbe characters, our displays are looking spectacular but your work would make it even better. We have been using the handwashing song lots in school, have you all learnt it too?

Phonics / GPS

This week for our phonics tasks we are going to be thinking about using apostrophes. There are different times that we need to use them and we are going to start with using apostrophe for possession, can you remember the rule? The poster is one our main class page too. Now that we have reminded ourselves can you complete the first two pages of the activity book? On the first page you have to choose the correct sentence and on the second you have to write the sentence with the apostrophe in the correct place, follow this link to find them. You can print the sheets or write them into your books.

Collective Worship

Our Collective Worship value for today is Aspire.

I would like you to watch this video of Derek Redmond.

In the bile it says “We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So, we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit.”

Despite everything Derek Redmond overcome his challenged and aspired to finish his race. I would like you to draw a picture of something you have found a challenged over the past few weeks. Once you have finished your picture think about ways to help you overcome this challenge and write them all around the picture. Find somewhere safe to keep your piece of paper. Every time you face this challenge over the next few weeks I want you to get the piece of paper and remind yourself that you CAN overcome the challenge you are facing.

Follow the link to today’s activity below

Once you have watched the video have a go at the sheet by following this link, remember either print it out or write it into your books.

We have had some new activities from Miss Thurston to try this week Foxes, follow the link to find one for today. If it is raining you might have to swap it for something inside!

Today for our English task we are going to do a quick read comprehension activity all about plants, follow the link to find it

The children in school are still enjoying their packed lunches, they are having lots of different things inside them, their favourite so far has been a slice of Pizza, what are you having for your lunch today? When you have had something to eat you can choose something to do outside, just like we are in school. This link takes you to some games and activities that have been sent to us by AVSSP, who organise all of the competitions that we have taken part in.

This afternoon I would like you to think about the different activities that have been in our blogs that you have enjoyed and the ones that you have done everyday. We want to make sure that everyone is enjoying their home learning as well as growing their brain, so let us know what you have liked doing the most and which have made you think!

Story time

We are going to start reading the story of ‘How not to go to School; Parsley Mimblewood Saves the World’ in our Fantastic Foxes bubble today. It is quite a long chapter book, so we are going to read a couple of chapters each day. We will be reading everyday at 2.45pm if you would like to read at the same time as us. Follow the link to find the story, you can read it online, download it or print it out.

Fantastic Foxes message

What a good start to our new week Foxes, I can’t wait to see what you have been doing at home. If you have not come back to school to be part of one of our bubble I will be contacting you and your grown ups later this week. I am looking forward to hearing about what you have been doing and making sure that you are all safe and well.
