Morning Marvellous Moles! I can’t believe that it is our last week of the term. We are so sorry that we couldn’t see you all back in school before the end of the year but we have loved keeping in contact with you and seeing what you have been getting up to. This week’s work will be all about reading so please try to join in. Please remember to continue sending your work during this last week to the link below.
Marvellous Moles Home Learning Tasks:
This week we will be looking at words, which have the sound ‘l/ll/le’ we say this is one sound, different spellings. They all make the same sound so it can be confusing at times to know which spelling to use. In school if the children can hear the sound but are unsure which spelling to use we would show them which one to use by writing it for them to see. We would also remind them the ll and le sounds are more likely to be found at the end of words.
Use the words below to practise the different spellings.
Let, long, fell, will, bottle and little
See if you can put the words into a spoken sentence.
This week our collective worship is based around moving on and starting our new schools or classes in September. Transition times are always very special at our school and we all look forward to welcoming new children into the school each September, after we have said a special, and sometimes teary goodbye to our wonderful Year 2 children at the end of term.
For this week we are going to be thinking about the story of ‘The Cautious Caterpillar’
Find the story using the link below and read it with your grown-ups. Then we would like to think about why Cody was worried about changing from a caterpillar to a butterfly. What did she say about being a caterpillar? Why do you think that she kept saying that?
This week we will be looking at money and time. Today we will start with money. Look at the coins below, do you know what any of them are and what they are worth? Which one would you most like to have to put into your money box? Ask a grown up if they have any coins for you to look at, can you put them into the right order starting with the smallest. The power point below will help you to do this.
Reading fun activity
This week we will be starting our summer reading challenge. Below you will find the link with lots of resources and games. Today we would like you to use the link below to look at the website and join up, using the ‘join the challenge’ link. Once you have done this, have a look at the ‘find a read’ section and see if you recognise any of the books and read some of the book reviews.
We would like you to choose one of your books from home and read it with a grown up. See if you can find an unusual place to read it and take a picture of you doing it and send it to us.
We can’t wait to see them!
