Morning Marvellous Moles! How was your weekend? We are missing you very much but love to see all of your lovely home learning, keep up the good work. As you have seen from the email we sent out last week, we have slightly changed how we have doing our blogs from this week. We have decided to have a whole school theme for each week and this week we are thinking about our Marvellous Moles class memories.
Marvellous Moles Home Learning Tasks:
This week we will be looking at words with the sound ‘th’ we say this is two letters but one sound and record them together on our sound cards.
Use these words – thin, thud, that and than- to play games with your child e.g. what sounds can you hear? Make letter cards and put them in the right order or have a go at writing them in your books. Can you put any of the words into a sentence? Have a go at writing a sentence in your book.
We would also like you to make some flash cards for the words there, their and these have a go at learning these words to help you with your reading.
This week all of our collective worship activities are based on one of our school key values, learn.
At the very start of the year, Miss Scrivens led some collective worships to help us find out a little more about how our brain works. We are going to have another look at this during the week to check what you have remembered and to see if you think your brains have continued to grow and learn.
At the start of the year, Miss Scrivens shared some amazing brain facts with you, how many can you remember or find out?
- Which fruit is a brain roughly the same size as?
- What does the brain have billions of?
- How many different lobes does a brain have?
- Which two types of memory does your brain have?
Have a go at our little brain quiz and send us your answers we will give you the answers in tomorrow’s blog to see how many you got right.
M - Mathematical Development
From the super home learning you have been sending in, lots of you have become experts at doubling and halving over the last two weeks! This week our new activities link with this, we are going to think about odd and even numbers. Today we would like you to watch an episode of Number Blocks called ‘Odds and Evens.’ After watching it, see if you can sort number cards to 10 into two groups, one made of odd numbers and one made of evens.
Class memory activity
At the very start of the year, one of the first activities we did together in school was to read a story all about a little mole. We chose this story to help us all feel part of our special team, the Marvellous Moles. We would like you to read this story or watch the link below if you don’t have a copy of the book. Can you remember what happens at the end of the story? How did the story make you feel when you read it? I know it definitely made us smile and laugh a little when we read it together! You could draw, paint, or make a model of a mole as a memory of your time with us. We would love to see them.
