Morning Marvellous Moles!  How was your weekend? Did you get up to any fun activities over the weekend with your families? This week we will be thinking all about moving on. We will all be starting in our new class in September so this week we will be doing lots of activities to help us to prepare for this. Please remember to keep emailing your work to us in school.

Marvellous Moles Home Learning Tasks:

This week we will be looking at words which end in the sound ‘ck’ we say this is two letters but one sound and record them together on our sound cards.

Use these words – back, duck, rock and neck- to play games with your child e.g. what sounds can you hear? Make letter cards and put them in the right order or have a go at writing them in your books. Can you put any of the words into a sentence? Have a go at writing a sentence in your book.

We would also like you to make some flash cards for the words what, where and who have a go at learning these words to help you with your reading.

Collective Worship

This week all of our collective worship activities are based on one of our school key values, ASPIRE

Last week we thought a lot about how our brain works and what we can do to make it grow and stretch, so that we are learning all of the time. We need to try lots of different things to help our brains to grow and this week we are going to think about those things. Today we have a story all about turning what looks like a mistake into something wonderful. Each page starts with something that would normally get rubbed out or thrown away but they are turned into marvellous pictures and creations. It is called ‘Beautiful Oops’ by Barnie Saltzberg and you can listen to it by following the link.

Now try making your own ‘Beautiful Oops!’ what are you going to start with? A dot, a tear or a smudge?

Where's My Teddy?: Alborough, Jez: 9780763698713: Books

We have worked so hard the last few weeks learning all about doubling, halving and odd and even numbers. In fact, we have got so good with our numbers we are going to do something a little different this week. We would like you to think about the size of objects today. To help us with this we would like you to watch the story in the link below. The story is called ‘Where’s my teddy.’ In the story there is a mix up with the bears and the little boy and the big bear end up with the wrong bears! Can you think of any size words to describe the small and big bears? Record them in your books for us to see.

Moving on activity

This year not only will we be saying goodbye to our class as we move on, we will also be saying goodbye to some of the grown-ups who help us in school. Mrs McCordick, Miss Bladen and Miss Thurston will all be moving on and leaving us too. It’s a sad time for us all when people who we care about leave so we would like to make something extra special for them to say goodbye and good luck for all that they do in the future. In school we will be making a card for Mrs McCordick to say thank you for everything that she has done for us and to wish her good luck too. For your activity we would like you to make a leaving card and send it into school so we can pass it on to the grown-up you make it for. You could email it to us, post it or drop it off at school. We can’t wait to see your lovely cards.
