Thursday 9th July 2020

Good morning Marvellous Moles!  Another week is nearly done. Have you enjoyed the activities this week?  Here are the tasks for today.

Marvellous Moles Home Learning Tasks:

Today we will be carrying on looking at ‘c/k/ck’ same sound different spellings.

We’re going to write a dictated sentence today. Before you start, think about where you will need to start writing on the paper, what sort of letter you will need to use to start your sentence, what you will need to leave in-between your words and what you will need to use to show that your sentence is finished.

Read the following sentence slowly and clearly to your child so that they can hear all the sounds.

Jack has a black kitten and a white cat.

When you have finished writing, read the sentence back in one go.

Collective Worship

The Good Samaritan made the right decision in stopping to help the injured man.

We all aspire to make the right choices in our lives, but sometimes this is difficult.  Sometimes we may need to do something, but we’d rather not, or we think it’s too hard, or it’s nothing to do with us! Can you think of a time when you’ve done the right thing, even though it wasn’t the easiest thing for you?

It might be sharing a toy or some sweets?  Maybe helping with a job at home, when you don’t feel like it?

How did you feel?

Draw a picture of a time when you have done the right thing.

M - Mathematical Development

For maths today we are going to do some more estimating.  We’ve done this before with estimating numbers and weight, but today you are going to estimate capacity.  Remember that when we estimate we are making a sensible guess.

Capacity means how much space there is inside something.

Find a big bowl, such as a washing up bowl, and a smaller cup.  How many small cups do you think it will take to fill the larger bowl?

Now use the small cup to fill the large bowl and count how many times you have to fill it up.  Was your estimate close?

Summer Activity

Today we are going to think about what we should wear in the summer.

Is it sensible to wear a woolly hat and mittens in the summer?

Why not?

When you have looked at the powerpoint, why not have a go at dressing Seren?
