Tuesday 2nd June 2020

Hello again Moles!  We hope you enjoyed your break and got up to lots of fun activities in the sun with your families. We will be starting our daily learning blogs again from today and this week we wanted to think a little bit about how we can keep ourselves safe during this difficult time. Have a go at as many of the activities you have time for and remember to email us to let us know how you are getting on.

Marvellous Moles Home Learning Tasks:

We will be reminding ourselves of the two new sounds we looked at before our break ‘sh’ and ‘ch’

In phonics we have been using our knowledge and skills to read sentences.

Read the following sentence and then answer the question below.

The sheep went to the chip shop.

Q. Where did the sheep go?

Now have a go at writing the following dictated sentence, remember to say the sounds, write the words.

Chad had a wish, to chop the chips.

Collective Worship

Our Collective Worship value for today is LEARN.

This week it is going to be Trinity Sunday on Sunday 7th June, so for our Collective Worship we are going to be learning all about the Holy Trinity and why it is important.

When we get ready for Collective Worship at school we set up our special table with the cloth, showing the correct colour for the church time of year, and then we add our three objects. For each object we say what they represent, can you tell your grown-ups what the objects are and share what we say for each one?

Then read and watch the slideshow that explains all about The Holy Trinity.

PSED - Personal, Social, Emotional Development

For our PSED activity today we have another story for you to read. It is called ‘Everybody Worries.’ At the moment many people, children and grown-ups might have some worries. It is normal for this to happen when things change and are different. The most important thing is that we can talk to others about this so they can reassure us and help to ease our worries. Read the story by following the link below.

PD - Physical Development

We hope you have managed to spend lots of time outside over the break, being active and keeping your bodies busy. Miss Thurston will continue to keep us fit now our blogs have started again. Today she would like you to create a 5-station circuit for you and your family to complete. At each station, play a different song and exercise until the song has stopped. You could include exercises such as star jumps, sit ups, skipping or hoola hooping, you can choose the ones you enjoy the most. How many of your family will make it all the way round the circuit?

CL - Communication and Language

This activity links to our Literacy activity today so it would be a good idea to do this one first. What do you know about Corona Virus? Tell your grown-up what you think it is and why we need to be so careful at the moment. What things can we do to keep ourselves and those around us safe? After chatting about it, read the Dr Dog story to see if you remembered everything.

What could this little boy do differently?

L - Literacy

Today we would like you to look at a special story on the Twinkl website (see the link below) written all about Dr Dog. In the story Dr Dog helps us to understand the different things we can do to keep safe and why we can’t all be at school together at the moment. See if you can make a poster, like the last page in Dr Dog’s book about how we can keep safe. Record it in your home learning books.

M - Mathematical Development

We were so impressed with your number work before the break! Your counting and number formation is getting so good! Today we are going to start thinking about ‘doubling’. What does it mean when we double something? What numbers do we need to add together to find a double? To help us with this we would like you to watch an episode of number blocks called ‘Double Trouble’.  Use the link below to find it.

Today we would like you to see if you can remember how long we should wash your hands for to make sure that all the germs have gone. In school we taught you a song that was just the right length if you sang it twice, which song was it? Make sure you do this every time you wash your hands today.

(Happy birthday x2 should be around 20 seconds)

Last time we asked you to try this activity out it was spring. Since then the season has changed and we are now in summer! Go on a listening walk and see if the things that you can hear are the same or different to your last one. Draw some pictures or make a list of what you can hear.

ED – Expressive arts and design

For our lunchtime activity we thought about how important it is to wash our hands really well to make sure all the germs are washed away. Here is a new song for you to learn to help you wash your hands for 20 seconds.

You could also watch it on power point using the following link.
