Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves

Good Morning, everyone, I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and had some fun VE Day celebrations. We had a mini tea party in our garden to celebrate – let us know what you got up to. Below is the home learning for today, we are back to focusing on Katie Morag this week.

Phonics / GPS

In phonics this week we are going to be looking at the sound /oe/. We have already looked at the spellings ‘o, oa, ow, oe and o-e’ but the spellings ‘ou, ough and o.’ can also make the /oe/ sound. This can ou like mould, ough like dough or o like fold.

In your blue books can you make three lists of words like we do in our phonics lessons at school one list for each new spelling of /oe/.

Collective Worship

Our Collective Worship value for today is SERVE.

Before you look at our story today see if you can tell your grown-up the three special objects that we put onto the collective worship table each day.

This week we are going to be thinking about a story from the bible called ‘The Lost Sheep’. You can watch the story using the link below. In the story the shepherd served his flock of sheep by looking after each and every one of them, he even went out to look for the lost sheep when he was hungry, it was dark and he had blisters on his feet. How do we serve those around us? Are there more ways we could find to do this for our families?

English

For English today we are continuing to look at the Story of ‘Katie Morag and the two grandmothers.’ It would be good to read the story again as we looked at something different last week, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dp9j2f7io8. During the book there are many times where some of the characters are feeling happy, however, there are also times when some of the characters feel sad. In your book today, I would like you to draw a happy face at the top of one side, and a sad face at the top of the other side. Under the faces, I would like you to write a list of what parts in the story different characters are feeling each of the emotions.

Playtime

For playtime, today can you take part in a small arts and crafts activity of your choice, this could be anything from colouring, to play dough to make a model using things you can find around your house.

Today the video can be found in Summer Term Week 2 under “Lesson 3 - Find a quarter (3)” Enjoy watching the video, if at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the video again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section.
