Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves
Good Morning, everyone, I hope you have had a lovely weekend. This week our blogs are helping us think about moving on to our next class whether this is moving within the school to Year 2 or moving onto Year 3 at junior school. Remember if you are a Year 2 in the Wonderful Wolves you need to look at the Fantastic Foxes blog this week. Please remember to keep in touch with us at ww@langleymill-inf.derbyshire.sch.uk
Phonics / GPS
In phonics this week we are going to be looking at the sound /f/. The sound j can be made by the spellings ‘f’, ‘ff’, ‘gh’ and ‘ph’
In your blue books can you make four lists of words like we do in our phonics lessons at school, one list for each new spelling of /f/.
I have added a list of example words for this week into the files section of the class page of the school website. The words are just a selection that are correct and not a definitive list.
Collective Worship
This week all of our collective worship activities are based on one of our school key values, ASPIRE
Last week we thought a lot about how our brain works and what we can do to make it grow and stretch, so that we are learning all of the time. We need to try lots of different things to help our brains to grow and this week we are going to think about those things. Today we have a story all about turning what looks like a mistake into something wonderful. Each page starts with something that would normally get rubbed out or thrown away but they are turned into marvellous pictures and creations. It is called ‘Beautiful Oops’ by Barnie Saltzberg and you can listen to it by following the link.

Now try making your own ‘Beautiful Oops!’ what are you going to start with? A dot, a tear or a smudge?
Mathematics
The video for today can be found at https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ under Week 9 – “Lesson 1 - Counting to 100” Enjoy watching the video, if at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the video again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section. The activity sheet and answers can be found in the files section of the class page on the school website.
Saying goodbye
This year as we all move to different classes some of the adults as well as the Year 2 within both the Wonderful Wolves and Fantastic Foxes will be leaving. Mrs McCordick, Miss Bladen and Miss Thurston will all be moving on and leaving us at the end of the school year. It can be sad when people we care about leave but we want to ensure they have the best memories of our school. In school today we will be making a card for Miss Thurston and the 6 Year 2’s from the Wonderful Wolf class – I have put templates of what we are doing for each of the Year 2’s into the files section of the school website if you would like to colour these in and send a picture back for us to add to the cards. For Miss Thurston’s cards we are making sports squiggles, please do your own sporty squiggle and send it to us, or if you want to do your own card you can send a picture of this for us to give to Miss Thurston.
