Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves
Good Morning everyone I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend. As explained on our class page the blogs will look a big different from today. We will be focusing on a weekly theme. The theme this week is Class Memories and Belonging.
Phonics / GPS
This week I would like us to focus on poly-syllabic words, specifically words with 2 syllables. Today I am going to write a list of words – can you ask your children to read the first syllable (before the forward slash) then read the second syllable (the part after the forward slash) and then put the two syllables together. Once they have done this can they write the word down first writing each syllable on its own line and then as a whole word underneath – I have given an example at the bottom of the words.
day/break
dru/mmer
suit/case
dir/ty
per/fect
Example for when the children are writing – splin/ter
First line splin ter
splinter
Collective Worship
This week all of our collective worship activities will be based on one of our school ley values learn.
At the very start of the year, Miss Scrivens led some collective worships to help us find out a little more about how our brain works. We are going to have another look at this during the week to check what you have remembered and to see if you think your brains have continued to grow and learn.
Brain facts!
At the start of the year, Miss Scrivens shared some amazing brain facts with you, how many can you remember or find out?
• Which fruit is a brain roughly the same size as?
• What does the brain have billions of?
• How many different parts does a brain have?
• Which two types of memory does your brain have?
Have a go at our little brain quiz and send us your answers we will give you the answers in tomorrow’s blog to see how many you got right.
Mathematics
The video for today can be found at https://vimeo.com/428005842 it should be entitled “Week 8 - Alternative Lesson 1 - One more one less". Enjoy watching the video, if at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the video again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section. The activity sheet and answers can be found in the files section of the class page on the school website.
Wolf Story
At the start of the year we spent time thinking about what it meant to be a Wonderful Wolf. This week we are going to look back on our time as Wonderful Wolves. Today I would like you to watch the story “The wolf who wanted to change his colours”
Once you have listened to the story I would like you to create a Wolf craft of your choice. This wolf craft is going to be very important and once it is complete I would like you to take a picture of yourself with the wolf you have made and send it to me for me to use on the front cover of your reports.
Remember please send a picture of yourself and your wolf craft to the class email ww@langleymill-inf.derbyshire.sch.uk so I can include this on the front page of your report.
