Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves

 

Good morning everyone. I hope that you are doing well. I have received some lovely emails already this week. It is so nice to be able to keep in contact with you all and see the fabulous learning you are doing at home. Every single one of you is making us so proud with everything you are doing. Keep up the good work.

 

Phonics / GPS

For phonics yesterday, we began looking at the /oo/ sound.

Can you read these different /oo/ words? Once you have read the /oo/ words can you choose your favourites and write them into some silly sentences in your blue book?

Collective Worship

Our collective worship value for today is LEARN.

This week’s story is ‘Jonah and the Whale’.  Re-watch or re-read it if you would like to. What do you think Jonah learned at the end of the story, after he had been to Nineveh and the people there had listened to him and changed their ways?

 

English

 Today I want use to think in detail about how letters should be ordered. It is important that we write them in the correct way or they don’t make sense. I have put a jumbled-up letter into the files section of the school website. Can you unjumble this and write it correctly into your blue books?

 

Playtime

Can you create a drawing for someone? This might be a friend of family member to help cheer them up and fill their bucket. Maybe you could pop it in the post to them or put in their letter box as part of your daily exercise.

Mathematics

The video for today can be found at https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/  located in week 4 under “Lesson 1 - Add by making 10”. Today the worksheet containing questions is in the files section of the class page of the school website, please do not try and get this from White Rose direct as you will need a subscription. As a school we have a subscription that allows us to post the worksheets to the blogs. Work through the video as normal. If at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the video again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section.

 

Lunchtime

 Today for lunch can you help to make your own food? This might be a sandwich or if you are having a hot dinner you might be able to help your grown-up with the cooking. 

 

D&T (Design and Technology)

I know you have all spent so much time working really hard on your beautiful lighthouse. This week I would like you to create a drawing of your lighthouse and label it. I would like you to draw the lighthouse and colour it before adding details labels. These labels can include things like the objects you used, the things they were used to represent as well as the colours you have used to create the lighthouse.  

Music

This week for music we are looking at how we use our voices to sing. When we sing it is always important that we warm up our vocal cords like we warm up our bodies before we do PE.

For our vocal warm up can you say some of the tongue twisters below. 

Luke's duck likes lakes.

Santa's short suit shrunk.

Pirates’ private property.

Rolling red wagons.

Black bat’s back again.

Double bubble gum.

 

Once you have done your warm up I would like you to join in with the Beside the Seaside song. Use the lyrics to help you sing along. Remember when you sing you need to sit or stand nice and straight to open your diaphragm.

Storytime

Today for storytime I would like you to do some reading yourself. Use the Oxford Owls website and choose a book that interests you. You might want to read this book to yourself or to a grown-up. After you have read the book I would like you to tell someone your favourite part of your story, your favourite character and your favourite word in the book.
