Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves
Good Morning, everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. I have been working from home for the past couple of days and have been doing a lot of my work outside in my garden. How have you been enjoying the nice weather?
Phonics / GPS
In phonics this week we have looked at the /oy/ sound. The spellings we have looked at are “oy and oi”
Can you sort these /oy/ words into real and alien words?
Our collective worship value for today is RESPECT. Talk to the children about what this means. Did the other court official show respect when they tried to get Daniel into trouble with King Darius? Why do you think they did that?
Yesterday you drew a picture and wrote some adjectives to describe Katie Morag. Today can you use these words to write a short character description. Imagine you are writing a short passage to describe Katie Morag to someone who had never seen her before.
Play a game of Simon says – how long can you keep going before someone goes wrong?
The videos for today can be found at https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ . Today I would like you to watch both week 1 “Lesson 4 - Introduce capacity and volume” and “Lesson 5 - Measure capacity” Enjoy watching the videos, if at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the videos again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section of the lesson 5 video.
Yesterday was Earth day – a day to remind up about looking after our planet. One way we can do this is by recycling. Can you help by sorting some recycling around your house?
You may have realised that the Isle of Struay isn’t a real place, it is a fictional island that Mairi Hedderwick created as part of her stories. The TV show Katie Morag is filmed on the real-life Scottish island of Coll. To help us understand more about this moving forward I would like you to use the BBC Bitesize website to recap your knowledge of the four countries of the UK. Watch the videos before completing the fun activities on the website.
RE (Religious Education)
Our RE learning this half term is about the church. There are lots of churches close to school, have you seen any of them before. Can you use your daily exercise to go on a walk and find as many churches as possible? Take pictures of the ones you find, do they all look the same?
Today for storytime I would like you to read to someone else in your house. You can use a book you already have in the house or you could use Oxford Owl to find a book you have not read before.
