Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves
Good morning everyone I hope that being inside due to the weather hasn’t been too difficult after all the lovely weather we have been having. I have seen some lovely lighthouse pictures of the past few days. Keep sending your learning pictures to us we love to see them. Below you can find the home learning for today.
Phonics / GPS
In phonics this week we have looked at the /ar/ sound. The spellings we have looked at are “ar, al or a”
Can you sort these /ar/ words into real and alien words?
Our collective worship value for today is LEARN.
Follow the link that we used on Monday to remind yourself of the story of Noah and the Ark. Talk to your grown-ups about what you think that Noah learnt about making and keeping promises? What do you think that Noah’s children learnt from him?
This week we are looking at the Story of Katie Morag and The Two Grandmothers. In this story, Katie and Grannie Island misbehave a little with Granma Mainland’s rollers and hairnet. Imagine you are Grandma Mainland and you discover what Katie and Grannie Island have been up to. Write down different words to describe how you feel. Once you have thought about how this would make you feel can you write down a few sentences that Grandma Mainland might say to Katie and Grannie Island to let them know how she feels?
Use the staying active at home file on the class page of the website. Choose an activity and complete this to stay active despite the less than ideal weather.
The videos for today can be found at https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ . Today the video can be found in Summer Term Week one and is called “Lesson 1 - Make doubles” Enjoy watching the video, if at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the video again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section.
We’ve enjoyed playing hangman at school quite a few times. Could you play hangman with someone at home? Maybe you could make all your words food-related.
One of the locations used for the filming of the TV show Katie Morag was Stornoway. Stornoway is one of the main towns of the Island of Lewis. It is very interesting to look at a map of Stornoway and look at what facilities can be found in the town. It is even more interesting when you compare this to a map of Derby and the facilities that can be found there. For your geography today, I have put maps for Stornoway and Derby into the files section of the class page of the website. I would like you to compare and contrast the two places. Remember when we compare and contrasts we talk about the similarities as well as the differences.
RE (Religious Education)
Our RE learning this half term is about the church. Look at ‘The Church’ PowerPoint on the class page of the school website. This will tell you about lots of things you might find inside a church. Then use your books and the image below to design a church layout in your blue books placing the altar, the lectern the bible and the font in appropriate places based on what you have learnt.
For storytime, today ask a grown-up or older sibling to read you a story that you really enjoy.
