Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves
Good morning everyone, I have had some many lovely emails over the last couple of days and it is lovely being able to see what you are all up to and replying to all of you. Keep up all your hard work at home. Enjoy the home learning for today.
Phonics / GPS
For phonics this week we are looking at the /oe/ sound.
Can you read these different /oe/ words? Once you have read the /oe/ words can you choose your favourites and write them into some silly sentences in your blue book?
Our Collective Worship value for today is ASPIRE.
Before you start our collective worship activity for the day can you see if you can remember the song we sing at the start of collective worship each day in school? We usually sing it as we put the special cloth onto our table. Teach the song to someone in your family.
Yesterday we started to learn about the story of ‘The Lost Sheep’. In the story, the shepherd showed great care and love for his sheep, just as God does for us. Can you think or how we can do this for those around us? How can we aspire to show our family and friends we care for them just like in the story?
We have been looking in detail at the book “Katie Morag and the Two Grandmothers”. We have spent time getting to know Katie’s two grandmother’s and describing them. I would like you to use what you have learnt from this to create a small fact page about your grandmother (you may call then Nanny or Grandma) in your blue books. You could find a picture of them too stick onto the fact page if you don’t have a picture you could draw a portrait of them.
Can you choose an activity from Tuesday’s column of this week’s Home Activity PE challenges?
The videos for today can be found at https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ . Today the video can be found in Summer Term Week 2 under “Lesson 4 - Problem Solving” Enjoy watching the video, if at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the video again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section.
Can you help make your own lunch today? If you are having sandwiches you could butter the bread and add your own filling. If you are having a cooked lunch you could offer to help cut up the food that is needed for your meal.
D&T (Design and Technology)
For D&T this week I would love you to finish your lighthouses. Once you have done this please send pictures to the class email address. Once you have completed your lighthouse can you draw or stick a picture of it in your blue book and evaluate it? Remember when we evaluate our products we write one of two things we think work really and then we think about one or two things we would change if we were going to create it again.
Today for storytime I have chosen a book that is currently my girls’ favourite. They ask for it at least 3 times a week at bedtime. I wonder if by the end of the story you can remember the names of the all the dogs Hairy Maclary meets. Click on the picture to be taken to the story.
