Home Learning Tasks for The Wonderful Wolves
Good Morning, everyone, I hope you are all doing well and continuing to be able to stay active despite the colder weather again, hopefully, it will warm up again soon. Below is the home learning for today, remember to keep sharing your pictures with us on the class email.
Phonics / GPS
In phonics this week we have been looking at the /oe/ sound.
How many different /oe/ words can you find in 2 minutes (remember this can be any of the new spellings ‘o’, ‘oa’, ‘o-e’ and ‘oe’ or the old spellings ‘ou’ and ‘ough’) – can you explain what your chosen words mean?
Our Collective Worship value for today is RESPECT.
Before you start our activity for the day, relating to the lost sheep, think about the special collective worships we have in school on a Wednesday. Can you remember any of the names of our special church visitors who come to school to share stories from the bible with us?
The story of the lost sheep teaches us that it doesn’t matter who we are, God loves us all the same and we are all as important as each other. God has respect and love for us all. Today we would like you to think of ways in which you can show respect for those around you at home.
Yesterday you wrote fact files about your Grandmas. At the current time, I know you are not allowed to visit your grandparents even if you would normally see them frequently. Today I think it would be really nice if you could write your grandparents a letter and let them know about all of the wonderful things you have been up to. I imagine that Katie Morag sends lots of letters to Grandma Mainland as she does not get to see her very often.
Go outside and play on a bike or scooter for a little while today, maybe you could see how many laps of your garden you can do in 10 minutes? You could even use skates or a skateboard if you prefer.
The video for today can be found at https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ located in Summer Term Week 3 under “Lesson 1 - Part-whole relationships number bonds”. Enjoy watching the video, if at any point you do not understand feel free to watch the video again or pause it to ask your grown-ups for help. Then use your blue book to record the answers to the questions in the activity section.
Can you choose some of your favourite music and create your own dance routine? Once you have created the dance routine can you teach this to someone else in your house before performing it to an audience of soft toys?
For science, the first thing I would like you to do is to update your plant diary – has your plant started to grow? If so how big is it now? I’d love to see some pictures of how your plants are getting on.
The second thing I want you to do for science is to with plants you might have in your own garden (if you do not have a garden with enough flowers I have placed a photo in the files for you to use instead). I would like you to use the I-Spy cards, also in the file section of the class page, to answer the questions about the flowers in your garden/on the photograph. Once you have done this I would love you to use the Garden Plants file to create a garden of your own out plants – draw and label how you would like your garden to look. Are you going to use the plants to create a picture or pattern? Or will you just choose flowers that are your favourite colour?
We all really enjoy our singing lessons with Miss Scrivens. She loves to teach us new songs that we aren’t familiar with, that soon become our favourite. Today for singing I would like you to ask your parents what their favourite song is either now or when they were younger. Once you have found this out can you get them to teach it to you the way Miss Scrivens does by splitting it into small sections?
