Our Staff
Mrs S. Gardner – Headteacher
I love working here. The school is so welcoming and is a great place for children to learn and thrive. I feel proud to be part of this school community. We have the most beautiful grounds and we aim to get children learning outdoors as much as we can. I have worked as a member of a senior leadership team for over 16 years. For the last two years I was the Head of School at a Primary School. My passion has always been Key Stage 1 and Early Years. I have been a Curriculum Lead and English Lead for a number of years. I am already enjoying being part of this wonderful community. Inclusion is a huge priority for me and I want to ensure all children get the best possible education they can while they are at this school. I want to ensure all children feel safe and happy and enjoy coming in everyday to learn new things. The partnership between families and school are so important and we always aim to keep this a priority and work with you all. Please get in touch if there is anything else you would like to know or need support with.
Miss C. Jones – Assistant Headteacher and Fantastic Field Mice Teacher
I have been the Assistant Headteacher since 2008. I have taught all year groups and love seeing the progress children make in each stage of their learning. I hold expertise in mathematics teaching and I help all children with any bullying issues that happen in school and ensure our procedures in this area are rigorous and robust. I love music of all kinds and will often be found at live gigs!
Miss S. Brown – Assistant Headteacher, SENDCo & Nurture Teacher
I am pleased to introduce myself as the Assistant Headteacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) here at Langley Mill C of E Infant and Nursery school. With a broad background of 16 years in teaching across various educational settings, I bring a range of experience and a deep passion for ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I have recently completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination, further enhancing my commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
My hands-on involvement allows me to not only understand the unique needs of our young learners but also to actively contribute to their growth and development. I believe in a collaborative approach to education, and my goal is to work closely with both the staff and parents to ensure a holistic and positive experience for each child.
Mrs D. Harris – Early Years Lead and EYFS Teacher

I am passionate about early years and love seeing children progress in the very earliest stage of schooling. I greet the children with a big smile each day and love getting to know their parents and carers. I enjoy being in the great outdoors and you will find me in the wildlife area for ‘Muddy Monday’ each week!

Outside of school my favourite thing to do is spend time with my children and partner walking my dog.
Mrs L. Johnson – School Business Assistant
I work each morning in the school office and monitor the daily attendance and ensure that our data remains up to date. I may be the first person you see when coming into school and am here to assist you with any queries. Teaching Staff
Miss P. Wakefield – PPA Teacher
Hi everyone, I am a part time teacher at this school and currently work alongside Miss Brown in Reception. I have worked in both Early Years and Key Stage One whilst I have been a member of staff here. I love science and get the children involved in investigative and enquiry based learning as often as I can. I also enjoy teaching reading and work very hard to develop the children’s phonics skills through our Sounds-Write scheme. I am very interested in photography and take snaps wherever I travel.
Mrs D. Wilmott – Super Satin Mice Teacher
I am passionate about teaching and helping children be their very best. I am thrilled to be teaching in the Super Satin Mice class and supporting the children on their important learning journey. I love to read, and I like encouraging children to foster a love for reading. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and two guinea pigs.
Teaching & Learning Assistants
Mrs S. Robinson – Teaching and Learning Assistant
My own children attended this school and I have always loved being a part of it. I have been in the early years for several years now as I really enjoying setting up quality play based activities, both indoors and out. I love watching the children engaged in their play and all the learning that takes place without them even realising it. This school offers great opportunities for the children and I’m proud to play my part in this. Outside of school, I love walking my dogs, staying in my caravan and watching exciting dramas on Netflix!
Mrs C. Clarke – Teaching and Learning Assistant
I carried out my child development training in the nursery here when I was a student and I never left! Langley Mill is special to me as I am part of the local community that it serves. I am very interested in living a healthy lifestyle and try to pass this on to the children wherever I can. I became a mum in 2018 and again in 2022 and love using what I have learnt in school with my own children.
Mrs H. Hallam – Teaching and Learning Assistant
I have worked at Langley Mill for many years and have built up a great deal of experience and expertise through working with lots of different children and teachers. I enjoy all aspects of school life and will always help out where I can. I’m really enjoying running interventions, positive play and nurture at the moment. We offer the children and families so much here and I am always sad when we have to say goodbye at the end of key stage one. I’m a very proud mama too – this important job takes up lots of my time outside of school!
Mrs K Summers – Teaching and Learning Assistant
I have supported in school as a mid-day supervisor and work as a Teaching and Learning Assistant in the afternoons supporting the Early Years Team ensuring all pupils get the best possible start in life.

Mrs A. Purdy – Teaching and Learning Assistant
Langley Mill is a special place and I have learnt so much since working here as a teaching and learning assistant. I have worked with all of the age groups and enjoy supporting classes in every key stage. I enjoy creating displays and making the environment look stimulating and ensure it supports learning. In my spare time I’m a keen caravaner!
Caretaker & Cleaner
Mr A. Whitworth – Caretaker
Most of my working life was in a factory before I secured the caretaker post at this school in April 2018, and I wish I’d been here much longer! I feel a genuine member of the staff team and love doing my bit in making the school look clean and tidy and ensuring all areas are safe and well maintained. I spend most of my time with a mop, hoover, duster, sweeping brush and my toolbox! I’ve enjoyed getting to know all of the children and their families and as a Langley Mill lad I feel I’m really supporting my local community by working here. I love DIY and gardening and get to use my skills here at school. I’m also a great artist and you we see some of my artwork in school and on the school field.
Ms R. Riley – Cleaner
I support Mr Whitworth to keep the school looking clean and tidy. You can tell how busy the school is and how many activities the children are offered with the amount of cleaning up that is needed everyday! The school is very well cared for and maintained and I love playing my part in this. If I don’t talk a lot, it’s because I am usually on the other end of a hoover or duster!
