Year 1 – Super Satin Mice

 

Hello,

I hope you had a lovely summer holiday! We are looking forward to starting the next part of your school learning journey together!

Our first topic in year one, will be ‘Cool School’.

Cool School!

This topic was selected to ensure the children are fully familiar with the school which they attend and understand the importance of a school community, building on what they already know about themselves and their families.  This topic focuses on the school building and grounds. Through it, the children will learn about different materials and develop their map skills.  They will also further develop knowledge of the four seasons by understanding the changes that happen from summer to autumn.

The children will compare school life from now and the Victorian times, They will discover what life was like for a Victorian child and we will have a Victorian school day on the 2nd October ( children are welcome to dress up).

We will continue to read three times a week from our reading scheme Little Wandle based on decoding, prosody and comprehension. Please read at home at least three times a week. The children will have daily phonics lessons.

Friday 2nd October-Victorian day

Parent consultations and harvest festival in October ( tbc)
