Reception – Dazzling Dormice

2023 – 2024

Miss Brown         Miss Wakefiled

We hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to starting our new topic ‘Terrific Transport’.

We have lots of amazing things planned so keep an eye out on Dojo, Facebook and the website for more details to follow!

This half term our topic is ‘Helpful Heroes’. This topic was chosen to further develop the children’s understanding of members in their local community, who is familiar to them and how they help us. Children will also learn that some places are special to members of their community, where these people work and what is special about these buildings. At the end of this half term we be finding out about Christmas and working on a special concert for you all!

Important Information

Please ensure you signed up to Dojo as we will use this app as the form of communication between home and class teacher(s). This will include information about awards on a Friday. Please check the app after school on a Thursday to see if your child has been chosen for an award in our special assembly on Friday mornings. Please make sure questions and queries are about learning. Any other issues should be directed to the main school office.

  • Dojo will only be responded to during weekdays between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm.
  • Dojo will be used to notify you if your child has been chosen for an award for our Friday Celebrations – 9am.

We will be sending home the phonic code your child will be learning in school as we teach it. You will find these in a brown envelope attached to inside of their reading diary. Please practise building words using the sounds, e.g. s-a-t becomes sat. Say the sounds and read the word.

Please remember to continue to read at home at least five times per week once your child starts bringing home reading books (from week 3).
